Military police arrest IDF reservist who shot civilian during Jerusalem terror attack
An IDF reservist who mistakenly shot and killed an Israeli civilian at the scene of the Jerusalem terror attack last week was arrested at the end of a preliminary investigation, the Israeli army stated on Monday morning.
The reservist, Aviad Frija, was put under “preliminary arrest” at the end of an hour-long investigation shortly after midnight, which will continue today. He was questioned under caution and his weapon was taken from him.
Frija and another off-duty IDF reservist were at the scene when two Palestinian terrorists opened fire at Israeli civilians at a bus stop last Thursday.
They killed the terrorists but Frija fatally shot Doron Kastelman, a civilian who had also fired at the terrorists.
Footage taken during the incident showed Kastelman with his hands in the air trying to prove that he wasn’t a terrorist before being shot.
