Israel’s Ambassador to India Naor Gilon signed an agreement last week for Israel to provide water technology expertise to Indian start-ups.

The agreement was signed with Karanpal Singh, founder of Hunch Ventures, an India-based venture capital firm and The Circle Work, an Indian business startup accelerator.

“The Water Challenge” project will also include mentorship and networking for Indian startups from both Israeli and Indian experts in the field of water technology.

In addition, Israel will provide know-how regarding access to fundraising and commercial marketing programs.

“This 3-month long acceleration program is a promising opportunity for start-ups in the field of water to innovate, collaborate, and create sustainable solutions,” Ambassador Gilon said in a statement and that experts will collaborate to "harness the power of innovation from both nations and address crucial water challenges of our time."

"I believe this will drive positive change, fostering sustainable solutions and shaping a brighter, water-secure future," he added.

Singh expressed excitement about working with Israeli experts in the field.

“Israel is the global leader in water technologies, and given India’s large population we are thrilled to work together towards sustainability and water security. Through this collaboration we will bring leading technologies to work with Indian companies to find domestic solutions,” he said.

The two nations have collaborated in the field of water technology in the past.

Last year, Israeli company Watergen partnered with India's SMV Jaipuria Group to develop machines able to turn humidity molecules into drinkable water.

In 2022, India entered an agreement with Israel’s national water company to improve water-based infrastructure in Haryana, a state in northern India.
