One of Israel’s most famous soldiers fighting in the Gaza Strip at the moment is Idan Amedi, known to international audiences as undercover soldier Sagi from the Netflix hit show Fauda.

Amedi is also a popular singer in Israel.

Immediately following the outbreak of the Swords of Iron war, he joined his reserve unit in the IDF and has since been busy serving as a combat engineer, fighting against Hamas terrorists deep inside the Gaza Strip.

Every so often, images or videos of Amedi surface in Israeli media. On Monday, a video was published showing him inside an armored vehicle, holding a remote control and speaking into a walkie-talkie.

“In a short while, we will blow up the located object in memory of all the victims, our brothers and sisters who were slaughtered on Oct. 7,” he said.

“And especially in memory of our friends and brothers in arms, the late Alexey Shmeklov and Dror Elton, fighters in the recon squads and the Yamam unit; may we and God redeem their blood. I’m counting down from 10,” Amedi said, before blowing up a multi-story building.

Amedi had previously written about his friend who was killed in action during the fighting.

“I’m taking a moment after these two crazy days to pay our last respects to the late Alexey Shmeklov. A hero of Israel. The strongest, most determined, and at the same time, optimistic and smiling soldier that I ever had the privilege of commanding and being his friend.”

The Fauda actor had previously posted an image of himself on a beach in the Gaza Strip, holding a flag of the Nova Company, the organization whose rave party was overrun by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7.

More than 350 people were murdered at the festival that day.

Amedi was also photographed while meeting IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi at an army base just before the ground operation began.

In another post on social media, during a break from the fighting, Amedi wrote: “Reservists are a group of extraordinary people. Lions. Didn’t really sleep since Saturday, but morale is high, and we understand every moment why we are here – to protect our families and children.”
