According to the U.S. president, “Netanyahu has the most conservative government in Israel’s history, which does not want a two-state solution. Israel is starting to lose support because of indiscriminate bombing." These are the most explicit words he has said since the start of the war regarding the differences of opinion with Jerusalem.

U.S. President Joe Biden said this evening (Tuesday) that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “will not be able to say ‘no’ to a Palestinian state in the future.” According to Biden: “Netanyahu is a good friend, but I believe he needs to change.” These remarks were made during a fundraising event in Washington, D.C., hosted by the former president of AIPAC.

Biden attacked the current government and its conduct as a warning sign for "the day after the war" in Gaza.

“Netanyahu has the most conservative government in Israel’s history that does not want a two-state solution. Israel is starting to lose support because of indiscriminate bombing. Netanyahu needs to strengthen his government to find a long-term solution to the Israeli-Palestinian issue,” he said.

The U.S. president also added, “We made it clear to the Israelis and they are aware that the security of innocent Palestinians is a matter of concern and that they must do everything to prevent harm and killing of Palestinian civilians. This does not diminish the responsibility to pursue Hamas. There is a responsibility to protect civilians and ensure that they have access to humanitarian aid. Israel has declared that it will abide by these obligations.”

In addition, Biden referred to reports that the IDF is flooding Hamas tunnels with seawater and clarified that “assertions have been made that there are no hostages in the tunnels, but I do not know if this is factually correct. Any loss of life is tragic.” According to Biden, Netanyahu understands that steps must be taken to strengthen the Palestinian Authority.
