AOC’s distorted Christmas message is just plain wrong theology
When someone has a pressing malevolent agenda that they want to disseminate, they are not above using whatever means available in order to spew their twisted and generally non-factual narrative. In this case, U.S. congresswoman of New York's 14th District, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, better known as AOC, is no different.
Co-opting the Christmas message of, “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men,” she, instead, swapped out the traditional Jewish characters, giving them a 2023 makeover to Palestinians, finding themselves in an all too familiar backdrop of being pursued, just as was done in the “massacre of innocents,” more than 2,000 years ago when King Herod, as she puts it, “indiscriminately killed” to protect his power.
Cynically using religious inferences to shore up her very obvious biases, she relied upon similar sentiments expressed by Rev. Munther Isaac, a Lutheran cleric in Bethlehem, for the inspiration of her very flawed recollection of history.
AOC, not known for her affinity to matters of faith or religious historical references, suddenly feels the need to exercise her theological prowess. But let’s not forget, when once asked to expound on her statement that Israel was an occupied country, she immediately retreated by stating: “I’m not an expert on geo-political matters.”
Nonetheless, AOC has no problem taking on subjects for which she is ill-prepared to defend due to her being misinformed, along with her ignorant and clumsy attempts to apply today’s politically-correct constructs to a simple and loving message intended to represent redemption for mankind as opposed to the antisemitic tidings which she, instead, doled out.
But not only is her use of these symbols erroneous, her shallow understanding of ancient times, which had great spiritual significance as to why the Roman king was hunting down Jesus, is also way off the mark.
The New Testament account in Matthew 2, says the wise men came, inquiring as to where they might find the king of the Jews in order to worship him. Troubled after hearing about this, King Herod summoned all the scribes and priests asking them where the Messiah would be born. Repeating what had been written by the prophets Micah, (5:2) they told him: Bethlehem.
His response to them was to go search for the child so that he, too, may pay homage, although his real plan was to kill him, knowing that this promised One would threaten his power.
It was, in fact, this wicked Roman king who then ordered the murder of all the male children in Bethlehem and its surroundings. Consequently, this was, by no means an indiscriminate act – in the sense of random killing, per AOC’s distorted version. Herod knew exactly who he was after and why he wanted this child dead!
Nothing about this story is parallel to today’s Israel/Hamas war, which constitutes a battle to eradicate an insidious enemy who perpetrated heinous and savage crimes on innocents on their Sabbath day of rest. In their wildest dreams, they could have never imagined a brutal terrorist massacre would take place in their communities on that fated morning of Oct. 7.
The only wicked ruler in today’s account, is Yahya Sinwar, accompanied by a cast of others who, along with the evil Iranian regime, has plotted the demise of the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland; and after that, a continued, protracted end to the remaining millions of Jews who live outside the land, followed by the pursuit of Christians and all others who refuse to bend the knee to radical Islam.
AOC's use of the well-known trope that the Jews killed Jesus was, once again, employed as she claimed: “The Jews are, again, killing Jesus," a powerfully charged antisemitic statement which drew the ire of Abraham Foxman, former Anti-Defamation League leader who stated: “Ocasio-Cortez’s initial post “hateful and dangerous,” citing the historic libel claiming that Jews are collectively responsible for killing Christ, or deicide, a charge refuted by the Catholic Church since the 1960s and rejected by other Christian denominations, has fueled, antisemitism in Christian communities for centuries. Following suit, former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman also referred to the post as “a reinvention of history.”
These reckless and twisted statements made by AOC are just the type of ignorant and imaginary rewriting of history that is then immediately adopted by those of her generation who have abandoned the value of research and verification of facts, all in favor of running with a perfectly-matched narrative, used to draw others who may have hesitated to join in but who now believe the lies of history.
Perhaps most stunning was the image used in AOC’s post, which “superimposed a baby doll in a pile of concrete rubble,” a new take on the traditional nativity scene, meant to shock the sensitivities of the once, peaceful child who laid in his manger, unharmed.
Not one word about another baby whose ashes were all that remained after being thrust into a burning oven. Nor was there any mention of whole families bound together and set on fire, because those images are not in keeping with the canvas that must be painted on, demonizing the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, represented as those who killed the Messiah and have now moved on to innocent children as their next victims.
The unvarnished truth of both history and today’s current events have become bothersome impediments that must be covered up and revised to facilitate the lies that then become the glaring headlines for a mob too ignorant to ask any questions.
Of course, AOC is likely taking her cues from another political/religious leader, Pope Francis who carefully avoided the unwanted details of how the war began and, instead, chose to focus his Christmas message on “the children dying in wars, including Gaza as the little Jesuses of today, as Israeli strikes reap an ‘appalling harvest’ of innocent civilians.”
Who would suggest that such a message is slightly lopsided – lacking factual context and crucial objectivity? What can you say about the Vatican, which has, once again, remained silent during a dark period which rivals the Holocaust in its horrific sin against the Jewish people?
Those who go to great lengths to obfuscate the events of Oct. 7 are nothing more than dishonest, deceptive and deceitful liars who are fooling no one except young, bored Woke individuals who dropped out of meaningful society long ago, preferring to find their virtue and self-worth by calling for the genocide of whoever they view as bad and dangerous people – in this case, the Jews. By stirring them on, AOC and all the others, who embrace her sentiments, are doing their best to make a name for themselves, but for the rest of us, who prefer to embrace the truth, that name is MUD!
